AT LONG LAST, THE INFLUENTIAL SWEDISH DUO RETURNS WITH A NEW ALBUM FOR 2013. WATCH THEIR MYSTERIOUS VIDEO ANNOUNCEMENT NOW
It's been nearly seven years since Swedish duo The Knife released their influential (and nearly perfect) album Silent Shout. Fans of the mercurial and dark artistry of Karin Dreijer Andersson were sated in 2009 when she released music under her alternate project Fever Ray, through which she unleashed a visceral sound of a more elemental nature—less electronic than The Knife but equal in its possessed, sinister beauty.
Still, there's nothing quite like the partnership between Andersson and her brother Olof Dreijer, and today (12.12.12) they've announced their highly anticipated return with a video that offers little information—only a cryptic scene of the two of them on a children's swingset, wearing wigs and heels. Pitchfork reports that Light Asylum's Shannon Funchess will be featured on the record. Via their Twitter, the band writes, "Music can be so meaningless. We had to find lust. We asked our friends and lovers to help us." Watch the video by scanning above, or at theknife.net.
