THE QUEEN OF ROCK RETURNS WITH A BLISTERING NEW TRACK. LISTEN NOW.
One of my favorite memories of Courtney Love as a teenager is the time she went on Howard Stern and claimed she could out-scream Trent Reznor (she went on to describe his anatomy as smaller than, well, a nine inch nail).
The jury is out on that claim but she definitely gives her famous scream a new take on her outstanding new single "You Know My Name." On the heels of revealing that the mid-'90s Hole lineup has recently reunited—that's Eric, Melissa, and Patty, for the unenlightened—Courtney premiered the new solo track on Steve Lamacq's BBC Radio 6 program yesterday. More reminiscent of Nobody's Daughter than her gut-wrenching, emotional, Live Through This era, the song bursts with a Warped Tour sort of '90s punk energy. But listen all the way through: the climax really comes through in the third verse, half of which she delivers with a chainsaw scream that would send Trent running for his mansion.
One of the most remarkable things about Courtney Love is that no matter how many times you try to count her out, she always hits back hard with a sharp reminder of how insanely talented and immensely precious and iconic she really fucking is.
