"I THINK YOU HAVE TO GO MANY MANY TIMES TO COME AND SEE IT," JEAN PAUL GAULTIER STATES IN THE ABOVE VIDEO. HE'S TALKING ABOUT HIS NEW EXHIBITION, OPENING TODAY (OCTOBER 24TH) IN BROOKLYN, WHERE HE IS "SO HAPPY TO BE." WE'RE HAPPY HE'S HERE, TOO, AND WE'LL TAKE HIM UP ON THOSE MULTIPLE VISITS!
Getting invited to the opening of a Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition is like getting challenged to look Fabulous (with a capital F). Who will outdo whom, and what will JPG himself wear? you wonder, staring at the invitation to the Brooklyn Museum the night before the exquisitely curated "The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk" is viewable to the public. And then, once there, all fears subside. Everyone is allowed to wear Gaultier, as the title of the show suggest. And, no matter who you are, looking at the history this man has made will make you feel good.
Guests wore the classic pinstripe suit, the new little black leather dress, the custom lace cocktail, the transparent vampire gown, the kilt in all materials, the studs, the satin, the plaid, and the denim. And everyone there—including the gorgeously dressed mannequins, of course—looked Fantastic.
