WELCOME TO THE LATEST VMIX, WHERE OUR FAV DJS PREMIERE THEIR NEW SETS EXCLUSIVELY FOR VMAGAZINE.COM

NEXT UP: THE PRODUCERS RESPONSIBLE FOR "TAKE ME HOME" AND THOUSANDS OF SATISFIED PARTIERS, CASH CASH PUT THEIR MONEY WHERE THEIR MOUTHS ARE AND DELIVER A MIX THAT'S GONNA MAKE IT RAIN

How would you guys describe your music?
It’s a lot of stuff. It’s mainly EDM, with a lot of electro-house and with a pop twist.

Did you do anything special for The VMIX that you want to talk about?
We did. It’s a combination of stuff we’ve been listening to, stuff we’re playing out and new songs we’ll get, fresh stuff and some old stuff we love playing between our sets. For this mix we have some new stuff, some unreleased snippets, some Cash Cash tunes, some new remixes we got coming out. You’ll hear it.

Most big EDM DJs are from Europe. Do you think your sound is a little different because you’re from America?
I think so. We have different influences because the guys in Europe grew up with more dance music around them from an early age. It’s always been a big part of their music culture. Here it’s been on and off. Growing up, probably the first dance music we ever listened to was Michael Jackson stuff, disco stuff, or like, Chemical Brothers stuff in the 90s and 2000s. But a lot of the stuff now, especially in the last five or six years, with the Internet—people have been listening to same stuff [globally].

How did you guys come up with your name?
We had a bunch of different names back in the day. We did a lot of different groups. We got sued for one of the old names we had, so we were just like, you know what? Screw this. Cash Cash. We just kind of came up with it.

What do you think is your biggest achievement so far as a group?
We’ve had a lot of steps along the way. We got signed to a major label, we’ve done several full US tours, done international shows, several shows in Japan. Each of those are a big step. Just being able to last and stay together for almost 5 years is our biggest achievement.

Do you prefer playing at the big festivals?
We had some really crazy shows out in Japan. This last summer we were out there. We did a show in Seattle a couple years ago, in front of 12,000. I guess, Sao Paulo, Brazil, we did a crazy show with like 3,000 people, our first time down in Brazil. It was wild.

What’s the next big project you’re working on?
We have a lot of new music coming out. We’re looking forward to releasing our Overtime EP at the end of October.

Who’s your ideal collaboration?
Daft punk, at some point. But there are so many amazing artists. Everyone! Seal would be amazing to work with.

When you’re DJing, how do you split up the work when you’re out there?
We’re usually all keeping busy.  We have 3 DJs, everyone’s either mixing the next song in or cuing up another song… Someone will rock some a cappellas, or start mixing in vocals over another track that someone else is mixing in.

Is it hard working with two brothers?
It is. There’s a lot of brotherly love and hate… But it’s fun.

What do you think of how American EDM fans dress? Like the girls wearing the furry boots, do you see a lot of that at your shows?
Yeah, we’ve seen it sometimes. It really depends on the venue. It definitely comes out more at the festivals. Its guess it’s just kids going wild trying to express themselves. It’s cool as long as everyone is staying safe.

I just got back from TomorrowWorld. Its funny to see how all the DJs dress compared to all the fans.
DJs are all low key. Fans now dress crazier than the artists for the most part.
