A little over a month ago, we recieved a book in the mail called Nudity Today (D.A.P.). We knew why "nudity," but we wondered, Why "today"? So we asked Jesse Pearson, the book's editor.
JESSE PEARSON I think it's always the right moment for a good book of nudes. After years of working with some of the photographers in Nudity Today, I'd seen a huge amount of their nude work that was waiting for an outlet, mainly because this sort of graphic material can't be published in any old magazine. I then sought out a few more artists who were totally new to me to round out the group. The "today" I'm referring to in the title is a perpetual now. It was the day the book came out, and it's the day I'm typing this to you as well. I think that there's so much great nude photo work being made that an editor could put together a compelling book at any given moment. Hence today, and today, and today.
