VERSUS VS VERSUS

TEXT NATASHA STAGG

Last night was a party more epic than any Parker Posey threw in Party Girl, and just as fashion-forward. A runway wrapped around the giant Lexington Avenue space, where male and female models emerged from a glass-paneled room, which also housed the fashion show’s director, Donatella Versace, clearly in complete control. The clear box allowed a literal behind-the-scenes view to the entire audience—a mix of models, industry interests, and New York’s premiere partiers. Without much of a warning, the models emerged wearing the long-awaited newest Versus capsule collection, a collaboration between J.W. Anderson and Versace. The looks heavily reference 1990s Versace (the oversized safety-pin was in attendance—and handed out to guests at the door), but the cuts are all new. Between runs, performances by Angel Haze, Dead Sara and Grimes held us over, and after the show, Donatella climbed into the DJ booth to hug and hear a shout out from MC Maxwell.
