10.15.08 PARIS C'EST LA VIE
Kathy Lo and Douglas Perrett wrap up the best of Paris fashion week

It was an amazing time in Paris, a rite of passage to see the collections on the grand Parisian scale. At times you may have thoughts you never left New York with all the stylists, photographers, art directors, bloggers, DJs, it-kids, and promoters all in town for the same reason. Paris was the scene; the most memorable parties had to be at Regine's, which hosted all the most crucial evenings, including one for A.P.C. and, of course, the usual end of fashion week New York New York party hosted by Derek Blasberg and Opening Ceremony. We also had loads of fun at the Dossier issue 2 launch and the Rock & Republic party held in the Eiffel Tower way in up in the sky. The memories, the good times—'til next season, kids! Check out my blog daily for happenings in the modeling world at COACD. Au revoir! xoxo Douglas Perrett & Kathy Lo

10.09.08 TRUE BRIT
John Galliano puts the fantasy back in fashion with an English-inspired Spring show

Exaggeration makes for inspiration and it’s business as usual for John Galliano. The designer's high-drama aesthetic came down to earth last weekend via simple and timeless silhouettes and clothes that were pretty damn wearable. And desireable. Towering British Royal Guard hats, alongside exquisite barely-there gowns, made for looks that were modern-day fairytales unto themselves. It takes a man like Galliano to make us dream this big.

10.07.08 NATURE VS. NURTURE
It's an animal house as Alexander McQueen stages his ode to Darwinism

It was a psychedelic Noah Ark's at Alexander McQueen's show over the weekend, with plenty of tye-dye colors, jewel tones, and a series stunning digitized prints. Models strutted out in bodysuits splattered with a kaleidoscope of sequins and '40s–style veiled faces, making for one super stunning fashion tableau.

10.06.08 THE HOUSE OF YES
It's about must-have perfection at Chanel. Perfect tunes, perfect clothes, perfect everything

It was full house literally at the Grand Palais—a replica of the house of Chanel served as this season's larger-than-life back drop. The girls strutted to "Our House" and the must-have soundtracks of Last Tango in Paris and Paris Is Burning. It was amped-up ready-to-wear that verged on couture, with plenty of fun and flirty jackets, skirts, and dresses. Die-hard Chanel fans will be living for the "shopping bag" bags, stockings, and super luxe evening looks. Just say yes!

Stella McCartney delivers every woman's dream wardrobe

Every girl with an edge will be wanting to wear this entire collection, full of must-have boyfriend blazers, jumpsuits and the most major hoop earrings. Those will no doubt be on back order. The skin tone palette kaftans and killer soundtrack made for a perfect morning collection. Easy breezy, quintessential Stella.

10.03.08 CRASH TEST
Hussein Chalayan finds a curious inspiration in car accidents, but the results are as cool and controlled as ever

It was car crash mashup literally this season at Hussein Chalayan, who presented at the fitting Palais Omnisport. You're going to need speed to hang out with this crowd. The print-heavy collection had all the editorial pieces and then some. The less courageous might take a cue from the hair and the sunglasses, which were also a big hit. And don't forget the awe-inspiring molded latex dresses that closed the show. One small step for mankind...one giant leap for fashion.

10.03.08 RED CARPET READY
Don't save the drama. Christian Lacroix's Spring show is chock full of Oscar-worthy moments

Christian Lacroix was all about big hair and statement clothes for women who mean it. After a while we lost count of the number of red carpet–ready moments. It's sophistication and detailing like this that reminds us that we're in Paris after all!

10.03.08 THE BIG FOUR-OH
Sonia Rykiel celebrates four decades in the biz with a rolicking Paris runway show

Happy Birthday, girl! The hottest show of the season had to be Sonia Rykiel's big 40th birthday bash at the Saint Cloud national park. While most party goers were concerned about dinner seat assignments, this blogger saw all the hot action behind the scenes and it was the best seat in the house. There were two very different backstages for the two shows that went on that night: one for the actual Sonia Rykiel collection, and the other a top-secret room for a surprise tribute collection designed by friends such as Rodarte, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and Riccardo Tisci. When the show finally went on, very late into the night, the Paris backdrop proved to be worth every bit of the drama, and the girls started parading down the catwalk. They really earned their rent at this show, coming to life, dancing, and smiling with glowing personality. When Sonia bowed at the finale and the Eiffel Tower sparkled in the background, it was a true French fashion moment. The essence of Paris.

10.02.08 LET THEM WEAR JEREMY
The bad-boy designer takes Paris for a show that's equal parts Madonna and Marie Antoinette

Think '80s Time Square dance clubs (Madonna, Edwige, Keith Haring) meets Marie Antoinette cake-eating social. Jeremy Scott's fashion show turned fashion week party had lots to celebrate: his recent partnership with Adidas, a range of lust-inducing Longchamp floral-print bags, and a new collaboration with Linda Farrow sunglasses. Jeremy's staking his claims on the City of Light.

10.01.08 MAD MAD WORLD
Anything goes in Vivienne Westwood's mixed-out, tossed-up DIY collection

The scene backstage was over the top at Vivienne Westwood—full of friends and paparazzi and others milling about. The clothes had that anti-fashion, DIY aesthetic and the casting was the most diverse all season. Westwood proved that good times are still to be had, despite the bleak news coming off the New York Stock Exchange. Viv was the escape.

10.01.08 MUMMY DEAREST
It's back to the Nile for Sophia Kokosalaki and her ancient Egypt inspired Spring collection

It was mummy chic at the Sophia Kokosalaki show yesterday, with the models pouncing down the runway to the Misshapes wearing all sorts of Egyptian-inspired garb. The collection was styled by Camille Bidault Waddington with plenty of ancient inspiration, from hieroglyphic prints to patchwork snakeskin. And the hardcore hardware on the shoes was genius!

09.30.08 L'AFRIQUE C'EST CHIC
At Dior, John Galliano channels Africa via '80s Alaïa for a chic and sexed-up collection

John Galliano went back to the power '80s at Dior yesterday for a show of Africa-inspired leathers, short flippy skirts, and the sickest shoes to stroll down a Paris runway in a while (their heels made of African earth mother statues). And don't forget the hair, a bizarre crimped-up '90s throwback that defied gravity and was the perfect complement to the clothes.

09.30.08 NUNS ON THE RUN
Rick Owens's postmodern missionary gear scores points with the art crowd

It was a somber mood at Rick Owens, but what else would you expect from the master of goth? A wearable collection of missionary-chic basics for the West Chelsea gallery set. More thrills came from the front of house with the last minute arrival of Lenny Kravitz with daughter Zoe in tow!

09.30.08 THE SIMPLE LIFE
Yohji Yamamoto cleans out our closet. It's all about black, white, and pure lines for Spring

Perfection and precision could best describe the house of Yohji Yamamoto. Yesterday's production was timed to a T. Well except for the extremely late start thanks to the 20th anniversary Margiela show! Backstage was more of tea party setting and not the usual shenanigans, which was a blessing, and allowed us to capture the art and craft of the Spring collection. The show had everything for the über-stylish and the ultra discerning individualist. Viva Yohji.

09.29.08 ÇA, C'EST PARIS
Welcome to fashion. Gareth Pugh crosses the channel for his Parisian debut

For his Paris debut, Gareth Pugh sent his army of 22nd-century gladiators down the runway at Palais de Tokyo on Saturday. With styling by Katie Shillingford, music by Matthew Stone, and a front of house run by various imported London club kids, it was a family affair. The show, composed solely in black and white, pushed the outer limits of fashion with a look that can only be described as urban Samurai chic. Take that, minimalism!
