Following his widely circulated photos of Frances Bean Cobain, Hedi Slimane has posted a photo shoot on his diary featuring another of fashion’s favorite new faces, V69 discovery Sky Ferreira. Shot on location in Los Angeles, where Ferreira is currently recording her first full-length LP for release in early 2012, the photos evoke a childlike sense of wonder—fitting, as they were all taken near her childhood home. V had a chat with the emerging pop star to talk about how the whole thing went down.
“I met Hedi in New York, we were introduced by Stephen Gan,” she says. “They both suggested we shoot some photos. I was completely unprepared and surprised!” Later, when the two found themselves on the opposite coast, they got in touch. “We met up in Venice Beach, where I grew up, and then went to the Santa Monica Pier. Most of the photos were actually done on a ferris wheel when we got to the top. Then we went to the carousel. I would cry when I was five years old if my dad wouldn’t take me on it. It turned out to be really embarrassing. Hedi was taking photos and some lady told him to stop because they were ‘racy’ so I got stuck on the ride with a bunch of 5-year-olds. He had to watch me go around on the ride for like 5 minutes straight—and it definitely wasn’t as great as I remembered.”
